A Note From Yogarupa
Join me for this very special training to soak in the power and healing science of Yoga Nidra.
ParaYoga Nidra is the sublime methodology where deep, dreamless, sleep gives way to the heights of meditative experience. While many consider the practice to be a form of complete relaxation and deep rest, an access point for total physical and mental healing and regeneration, it is meant to be much more. The truth is that both––relaxation and deep rest––mark just the beginning of the potential of yoga nidra. As you will discover in this 5-day immersion, yoga nidra is less about sleep and more about awakening, which is why I call it Enlightened Sleep.
I have taught this practice for more than 30 years and was schooled in a traditional approach. Over the course of our time together, I will lead you into its depths, so that you can mine the potential of it as a sacred practice and learn to share it with others, in this light.
Three practices each day are also woven with deep study, self-reflection, and intention setting. We explore yoga nidra’s traditional roots (as found in Buddhist, Tantrik and Upanishadik texts). You will progress through ParaYoga Nidra’s five distinct aims and various approaches. We explore the unique body of yogic knowledge, from its foundational principles to its most luminous end point––as a comprehensive method for maximizing health and well being, as a means to positively reshape the unconscious and its ultimate experience, as a profound spiritual practice.
In this master training, we will also delve into the theory and personal application of resolution (sankalpa)––how you bring thought into form. We’ll engage specific exercises to help you achieve yours.
What Sets ParaYoga Nidra (PYN) Apart from Different Styles of Yoga Nidra?
ParaYoga Nidra is the sublime science of complete relaxation. But, it is more than that. Rooted in a vast body of knowledge, ParaYoga Nidra has five different aims or outcomes. Depending upon which one of these five you wish to achieve, the approach changes.
What to Expect During This Training:
Plan to delve into ParaYoga Nidra in light of the timeless teachings of the Mandukya Upanishad, which explains the three states of consciousness: waking, dreaming and sleeping. This scripture provides sublime insights into the practice of ParaYoga Nidra and the process of achieving the “4th state”––transcending all the other states, and revealing the sublime experience of ParaYoga Nidra.
Over the 5 days of this training, you can expect to be fully immersed in this profound tantric practice with a multitude of PYN practices. We will draw on the wisdom of the koshas to inform both your teaching and practice as well as your life off the mat. Each day will include joint exercises and subtle movement practices to prepare you for ParaYoga Nidra. As this practice involves total relaxation on the floor, you will need to ensure that you are warm and comfortable lying down for extended periods. Along with your mat, consider using a thicker mat or extra padding to lie on, a small pillow for your head, etc.
Yogarupa recommends that for that the month or two prior to the start of the training you begin or recommit to your meditation practice. It will be an invaluable aid to understanding the course curriculum as well as contributing to your overall experience of the training.
This training is part of the ParaYoga Master Training Program as well as the ParaYoga Nidra Certification Program!
ParaYoga Nidra is a ParaYoga Master Training (PYMT) and so it’s part of our 10-part, 300 hour advanced yoga training. It is open to everyone interested in learning about and experiencing ParaYoga Nidra. It is not a standalone certification program for ParaYoga Nidra.
In order become certified to teach ParaYoga Nidra practices, one must complete the larger ParaYoga Nidra Certification Program. This program includes the following ParaYoga Master Trainings: this experiential 5-day ParaYoga Nidra, The Four Desires (offered throughout the year by certified Four Desires Trainers), Secrets of the Sutras (offered online through our website) and Kosha, Kriya Yoga (coming in 2022), along with the 9-day ParaYoga Nidra Practicum & Certification course (coming in 2022).

What students are saying about ParaYoga Nidra:
“ParaYoga Nidra is deeply transformational. When the constrictions of breath and body and the stains of the mind dissolve, we can see clearly. When the source of suffering is revealed by our Soul and higher mind, we can plant the seeds of new ideas in the fertile field of consciousness. At the most elemental, ParaYoga Nidra relaxes and heals. At its most profound, you will be awakened to the fourth dimension, Turiya. Between those two, ParaYoga Nidra, when administered skillfully, serves as a tool to change unhelpful mental patterns and wrong self-perception and even heal the effects of trauma. Transformation is gradual but sometimes there are sudden leaps…I felt myself bursting out of the golden egg as a new person.”
“This training has been profound for me on a healing level, I have had so many breakthroughs & deep insights. I’m very grateful that I came into this training with a background in yoga as that depth allowed me to access the layers I did. Recognizing, seeing and feeling “the stain” was revolutionary for me––I’m so excited to work with my new sankalpa, it’s going to transform everything! I could never have arrived there on my own!”
“I am extremely grateful that I was able to have this transcendent experience with Yogarupa. I am not a teacher, but the ParaYoga Nidra training gave me so many invaluable tools to use in my personal practice.”
