“As one opens a door with a key, so the Yogi should open the gate to liberation with the Kundalini”
–Hatha Yoga Pradipika

All spiritual practice aims to awaken man’s Divine potential. In the Tantric tradition this indwelling spirit or capacity – in its dormant state – is called Kundalini. Once awakened, kundalini is known as shakti and is considered to be the force behind the attributes of genius, talent, grace and all significant accomplishments. Thus an awakened Kundalini is as much the stuff inspiring great poets, artists, composers, and mathematicians, as it is the most accomplished yogis. But it is yogis who know it and perhaps revere the most directly, seeing a fully awakened Kundalini as the vessel that carries a select few to rest on the shore of life’s ultimate aim – self-realization.

Hatha Yoga – first expounded upon in written form fifteen centuries ago – was originally a science intended to lead to nothing short of the ascent to the Divine power of Kundalini. According to these ancient scriptures, asana, pranayama, bandha, kriya, and meditation are the necessary preparation for realizing the highest states of human achievement and spiritual attainment. Yet beyond the physical practices related to yoga are the truly sublime practices of mantra, bhakti, kriya, and yajna (fire worship). The whole of these practices, from the physical to the meditative are dedicated to Kundalini and offer the experienced Yogi the most profound of all of Yoga’s teachings.

Designed to enrich dedicated practitioners, aspiring teachers, or those already teaching, the training consists of 5 days led by Yogarupa Rod Stryker, in which sessions weave together dynamic asana, vinyasa, pranayama, and meditation practices. They are dedicated to enlivening awareness of and your connection to the power of the Pranic realm, as well as, transforming how you see practice, yourself, and your capacity in the world.

The heart of these sessions is a dynamic and transformative practice: Vinyasa, holdings, teachings on alignment, contemplation, pranayama, meditation, and plenty of theory. Sequences highlight the core themes of the training.

The training is open to all interested and committed students who have completed the prerequisites – teachers and non-teachers alike are welcome. All sessions include lecture, asana practices, meditation, group work and Q & A sessions.

Yogarupa recommends that for the month or two prior to the start of the training you begin or recommit to your meditation practice. It will be an invaluable aid to understanding the course curriculum as well as contributing to your overall experience of the training.

Due to the progressive nature of this training, we strongly recommend that you take the sessions in sequence. This applies especially to our students in different time zones who may be tempted to take the afternoon sessions live and then watch the morning session’s recording afterwards.

“I was sitting in some heaviness and feeling a big karmic shift right before starting the Kundalini training. The timing turned out to be perfect of course. I can’t express my gratitude enough for the deep care and love in the ways in which the practices are shared with us. This stabilizing, systemic approach that allows for a careful and slow integration. For the practices themselves. For helping me to see and remember. I am feeling profoundly moved and invigorated and I wanted to express my deep gratitude…what a gift.”  –Becka Mezzatesta
