Brooke’s dedication to yoga began as a child, where she spent hours upside down hanging in trees or in headstands to “perceive the world differently.” Her passion for nature, the subtle world and the workings of the mind have led her to seek master teachers in the fields of Tantra yoga and herbalism. After getting her Bachelor’s, she then graduated from Midwifery School and then from the North Carolina School of Holistic Herbalism. Upon completion and recognizing that there was more to life than finding knowledge + healing from the outside, she put out a prayer to find answers. The following weekend she was introduced to the world of Tantra with Yogarupa Rod Stryker at his PYMT Prana Shakti. This immersion changed her life as it was Tantra, and even more specifically, Prana Shakti, that gave answers to what she was seeking. Meeting Yogarupa didn’t just feel like coming home-it felt like for the first time in Brooke’s life, someone had the language and the tools she needed to make sense of the subtle world she was so easily attuned to, and her Self.
As a result, studying Tantra became her main study + practice that deepened her connection to yoga, the plants, and the mysteries of life. She became certified in ParaYoga, often assisting Yogarupa for the PYMTs, while simultaneously studying at the Himalayan Institute and in India with Pandit Rajmani Tigunait. In the herbal realms she apprenticed with Master herbalists and in her family life, spent every weekend touring with her young daughter and husband’s Grammy-winning hip hop band, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. During this time, she co-directed and was the lead teacher for a 200hrYTT yoga + herbal program called the Shanti School in Asheville, NC created a product line called Vital Yogi (herbal travel kits for yogins) and taught yoga + herbalism at conferences such as the Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference.
On the road and at the many retreats, conferences and educational excursions, Brooke brought herbal remedies to support those on the path of yoga, as well as musicians on the road. All of this has led her to her current creations that blend yoga with nature: The Wild Temple School and Tantric Herbalism.
