Among other things, “Marma” means: “secret,” “sensitive,” or “mystery.” Marma––The Principles of Enlightened Practice is a ParaYoga Master Training (PYMT), dedicated to unlocking the hidden power of yoga. All levels of students and teachers are welcome.
Over the course of thirty-six hours, the training guides you into the experience and study of ParaYoga a seamless, systematic, and complete approach to practice, and one of the leading styles of yoga in the west. Learn and directly experience the keys that allow you to get the most out of practice. Gain insight and mastery of how to combine asana, pranayama, and meditation practices to unlock the potential of your practice––and/or your teaching.
This training will help you become an exceptional yogi or yogini or teacher. In it, you will learn to see and share the deeper intent of Yoga. Through practice, theory, and teaching exercises you will understand how yoga’s diverse practices become seamless and how to skillfully apply ancient, time-tested wisdom to contemporary classes, workshops, and personal practice. At the close of the course, you will have a new and deep appreciation for the practical wisdom that unleashes the richness of Yoga and how to apply it for your own benefit or that of others.
The ultimate aim of this training/immersion is to lead you into “marma”––awakening your sensitivity to enjoy, and possibly share, the keys to enlightened practice.
This course, led by Rod Stryker and co-facilitated by Tricia Fiske,
counts fully toward the ParaYoga 300-hour training.
Live-streams take place on the following dates:
October 9, 16, 23, 29, and 30th, 2022.
Prerequisites (highly recommended):
Completion of Vinyasa Krama: The Energetics of Sequencing.
This foundational PYMT is available online or live.
The training focuses on four main themes:
- The tantra of yoga: asana and the techniques of yoga as pranayama––a method for transforming and directing prana (subtle energy)
- The power and science of sequencing, yoga as an energetic-minded practice
- The art of growing yourself as a teacher and visionary
- How to adjust bodies with your hands, hearts with your voice, being, and intent
The heart of these sessions is a dynamic and transformative practice: Vinyasa, holdings, teachings on alignment, contemplation, pranayama, meditation, and plenty of theory. Sequences highlight the core themes of the training.
The training is open to all interested and committed students – teachers and non-teachers alike are welcome. All sessions include lectures, asana practices, meditation, group work, and Q & A sessions.
It is recommended that for the month or two prior to the start of the training you begin or recommit to your meditation practice. It will be an invaluable aid to understanding the course curriculum as well as contributing to your overall experience of the training.
