All spiritual practice aims to awaken man's Divine potential. In the Tantric tradition this indwelling spirit or capacity – in its dormant state – is called Kundalini. Once awakened, kundalini is known as shakti and is considered to be the force behind the attributes of genius, talent, grace, as well as, all significant accomplishment. Thus an awakened Kundalini is as much the stuff inspiring great poets, artists, composers, and mathematicians, as it is the most accomplished yogis. But it is yogis who know it and perhaps revere the most directly, seeing a fully awakened Kundalini as the vessel that carries a select few to rest on the shore of life's ultimate aim – self-realization.
Hatha Yoga – first expounded upon in written form fifteen centuries ago – was originally a science intended to lead to nothing short of the ascent the Divine power of Kundalini. From the view of these ancient scriptures Asana, Pranayama, Bandha, Kriya, and meditation are the necessary preparation for realizing the highest states of human achievement and spiritual attainment. Yet beyond the physical practices related to yoga are the truly sublime practices of mantra, bhakti, kriya, and yajna (fire worship). The whole of these practices, from the physical to the meditative, dedicated to Kundalini offer the experienced Yogi the most profound of all of Yoga's teachings.
This five-day practice and Teacher Training Intensive is open to all interested students.* Designed to enrich dedicated practitioners, aspiring teachers, or those already teaching, the training consists of two parts: open morning practices and afternoon theory sessions. Morning practices are open to all dedicated practitioners ( participation in the training is not required ).
These 2 1/2 hour experiential sessions, led by Rod, weave together dynamic Asana, Vinyasa, Pranayama, and meditation practices. They are dedicated to enlivening awareness of and your connection to the power of the Pranic realm, as well as, transform how you see practice, yourself, and your capacity in the world.
For those doing the training (open to all interested students – teachers and non-teachers alike), afternoon sessions will deepen our exploration through additional practices, lectures, meditations, and Q & A sessions. Their focus is to enlighten participants' understanding on how the principles and techniques specifically intended to awaken Prana inspire more profound richness in Asana, Pranayama and meditation practice – whether it be for your own practice and/or that of your students'.
Some of topics we cover include:
• The Prana of Asana
• Essentials of the Meridian System
• Prana – Linking Breath & Consciousness
