More on Tantra/Parayoga's Source
The exact origin of the term Tantra is lost in antiquity. The word Tantra is actually made up of two words: “Tan,” which means to stretch and “Tra”, which means beyond all boundaries or limits. Thus, Tantra literally means “to expand beyond all limitation”. Another meaning of the word Tantra is “technique”, “science”, “system” or “treatise”, which helps to stress its consistent practicality. In other words, the aim or Tantra is to make your life better, richer, more complete.
Tantra’s main focus is direct and complete transformation of the whole person. Its focus is on providing the correct approach or specific techniques whose spontaneous effect causes an individual to grow, become stronger, better, or more capable. Another meaning of the word Tantra is “accelerate”. Thus, Tantra essentially means “the techniques that one uses to undo any and all limitation on the way to realize ultimate growth and freedom, as well as, success in the fastest way possible.” The goal of ParaYoga, same as Tantra, is simply put, to thrive, to shine, to be the best you.

The ultimate passion and driving motivation of Tantric visionaries was to enliven oneself so that every day could be profound, every experience sacred. Their primary goal was to merge the spiritual and the mundane - to recognize all life as “holy”. This profound intention was the genesis of the tradition and what spurred the vast array of techniques, practices including Asana (Yoga postures), and teachings that they developed through the centuries. Thus Tantra is the source of Yoga.

Tantra –More in Depth - The Source for ParaYoga (Cont.)
The body of knowledge and techniques that are the source for ParaYoga is the Yogic Right Hand Path of Tantra. The teachings that gave birth to Yoga were first put into written form (collectively called the Vedas) nearly 5,000 years ago. These Rishis, (seers) men and women whose inspirational developed what we know as Yoga, were also responsible for developing Ayurveda, Vedic Astrology, Systems of Reasoning, Logic, Ritual and Rites, Vedanta (Metaphysics), Cosmology, Herbology and other related sciences.

Their insights and teachings were codified (in written form) as the Vedas and in later texts: the Upanishades, Puranas, and Tantras. These teachings make it possible for anyone, regardless of cultural background or religious orientation, to realize a life sustained with joy, health, peace, creativity and purpose, all informed by direct spiritual vision.

Many leading scholars agree that the writings of the Vedas grew out of the oral tradition of the pre-Vedic/Tantric culture that existed thousands of years earlier. Archeological findings support this view - that Tantric traditions explored, sustained, and profoundly elaborated on Asana through the centuries.

These teachings exalted the body as a temple (abode of Spirit) and thus pursued mining its sacred mysteries and treasures.
