...ParaYoga is rooted in ancient science. In fact, while doing a ParaYoga practice you may not realize you're doing something special until the practice is over. That's often when we experience a quality of ease, enthusiasm, and fullness that helps to distinguish it from any other practice.
The Three Main Threads of a ParaYoga Practice:
1. Sequencing (Vinyasa Krama), with an emphasis on the Energetics of Practice, is one of the things that sets ParaYoga apart from any other style. Sequencing also plays a vital role to help students access postures or achieve new depth in postures they've done before! The science of Sequencing (or Vinyasa Krama) pools together the vast knowledge of the Vedas including Ayurveda, Prana Vidya (science of Prana), and Tantra. It is also plays an instrumental role helping us to realize the two other threads of a ParaYoga practice: Tejas and Smarana.
2. Tejas is an internal force. When it is vibrant, it leads us to be more creative, fearless, compassionate, and helps us to attract the conditions and people that are most conducive to our growth, happiness, and success. The correct application of the Principles of Sequencing, one of the main features of a ParaYoga class, unlocks the forces of Tejas.
3. Smarana is the heart of Yoga. It means "rememberance". When all is said and done, the aim of practice is to "remember" our wholeness as well as to rest in peace and healing–inherent qualities that we all come into life with. When rememberance is alive and well, we can't help but feel whole, complete and live a fulfilling life that reflects it.
These three themes are woven into every ParaYoga practice. They are achieved as much through the science and knowledge of the tradition, as through a dedication to caring for each and every student that walks into a ParaYoga class.
The science of ParaYoga, its scope, depth, and relevance for the modern practitioner aspiring to make the most of life are drawn from a Yogic tradition that has been a vibrant force for centuries–namely, Tantra.
