Thursday, All-day Intensive,
Mixed Levels
Tantra Vidya, Kundalini & the Subtle Body

Tantra is the most comprehensive and holistic approach to yoga. Like the thread of a necklace, Tantra links all the precious gems of the diverse practices of yoga (including asana, pranayama, visualization, bandha, energy work, subtle anatomy, meditation, and alchemy) into a single, exalted approach. The aim of Tantra Yoga is to merge the material and the spiritual, to realize our potential in both, and to enable us to embody limitless power, freedom, and prosperity. Through theory and practice we explore Tantra’s approach to Yoga and the practical methods that allow us to embody the boundless force of Spirit. Discussion and asana practice.

Below is the list of Rod's two hour classes which will be taught from Friday through Sunday. Detailed schedule will be posted soon.

ParaYoga Vinyasa: Awakening the Fire

Fire practice, from the view of the ancient tradition, means activating the dormant forces in the spine. This inner fire or shakti is the force behind all spiritual experience. Learn the principles and techniques the ancient teachings prescribe to access the sacred fire. Accessible yet powerful asanas sequenced with bandhas leads to exaltation and illumination. (Practice with introductory lecture)

ParaYoga Vinyasa: The Prana Practice

Practice focuses on the asanas, vinyasa, breath, and bandhas that build and balance the elemental force of prana, the essential force that governs expansion of mind, body, and spirit. Prana, as activated through the appropriate asanas, frees us from the pain of limitation and restriction, brings lightness to the body and access to boundless awareness. All levels.

ParaYoga: Theory and Application of Bandha

Bandha, the next step after asana, is the gateway to mastering the energetics of yoga. Perfection of bandha heals and balances, steadies mind, builds creative power and ultimately leads us to experience the culmination of practice––resting in soul. We explore the “what,” “how,” and “why” of bandha and experience its effect to heighten asana practice. Practice and lecture.

Yoga and Ayurveda: The Vital Essences

The three vital essences (prana, tejas, and ojas) provide guiding principles that allow us to approach Yoga as alchemy. These subtle forces are a basis to heal as well as transform body and mind. We overview these key yogic teachings of Ayurveda and the yoga practices that increase/balance each of the vital essences. Practice and some lecture.

Pranayama: Building the Bridge between Body and Soul

This class is open to all dedicated yoga practitioners. In it you’ll learn the secrets to refining and mastering your breath. Through theory and guided practice(s) you’ll experience the power of the sacred science of breath and discover how its perfection stills the mind and attracts the forces of happiness, success, and fearlessness. (Two years Asana practice recommended)

Yoga and Meditation

Meditation is the heart of yoga. Through practice, theory, and discussion, we’ll explore the richness and diversity of yoga’s meditation tradition. Learn how all meditation techniques are not alike, which ones may be the most relevant for you, why, and how to practice them.

Registration will open in July. Please visit www.hawaiispiritfestival.com
